Sosis bandari is a very popular dish in the South of Iran. You really can have this easy and delicious meal in under an hour! The main ingredients of this recipe are sausage, onion, tomato paste and potatoes. Sosis bandari is often served as a sandwich, stuffed in French baguette with pickles and tomato slices.

 

What You Need to Make Sosis Bandari

  • Sausage: To experience the closest taste to original Sosis Bandari, use beef hot dogs and cut them into 1/3-inch slices.
  • Onion: Use white or yellow onions for this recipe. In the original recipe of this dish, the onion is cut into large slices, but if you don’t like it, chop them finely.
  • Tomato paste: Tomato paste adds flavor and color to the sosis bandari.
  • Potatoes: Using potatoes is completely optional but it pairs well with sausage and caramelized onions.
  • Spices: This dish should be spicy and red pepper is used to make it spicy. Salt and turmeric should be added to it like other Iranian dishes.

 

Instructions

  • Chop the sausages into rings, pour a little oil into a pan, and fry both sides of the sausages.
  • After frying, take them out of the pan and place them on a kitchen towel to drain the oil excess
  • Chop the onions into rings and fry them in the same pan until they turn red and golden.
  • Add the required amount of turmeric to the frying onions. Add two tablespoons of tomato paste to the onions and saute for 3 minutes.
  • Set aside the mixture of fried onions and tomato paste.
  • Wash the potatoes and finely chop them after peeling. Then fry them in another pan.
  • Add the fried potatoes to the onion and tomato paste mixture and stir until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Add some pepper and salt to the ingredients.
  • Finally, add the fried sausages to the potato and onion mixture. Leave the lid on the pan and let it cook for 15 minutes on low heat.
  • Serve the food in a bowl and garnish it with pickles, fresh parsley, and olives.

 

Important Tips for Making Sosis Bandari Recipe

The main Sosis Bandari recipe has no potatoes. So using potatoes is completely optional and according to your taste. You can use cooked potatoes to have a healthier and lower-fat diet dish. Peel potatoes and cook them with water. Then cut them into cubes. You should not overcook the potatoes.

If for any reason you prefer not to add tomato paste to your food, you can use chopped tomatoes or tomato puree. To make this recipe more delicious, you can add mozzarella cheese at the end of cooking.

If you wish you can add other ingredients to the recipe like bell peppers and mushrooms.

 

How to Serve Sosis Bandari?

Serve this dish with sandwich bread or traditional Iranian bread. You can use pickles, fresh parsley, tomatoes, fresh green peppers, and olives as side items.

Ingredients
