About This Recipe
A super simple pink and refreshing strawberry-flavored milk. I have never been to South Korea, but this drink is so beautiful that it makes me dream and feel like I’m drinking strawberry milk in a Korean cafe. 🥰😆 Ingredients needed to make this recipe are likely in your home. Fresh strawberries, sugar, and milk, that’s it. If you like, you can add a splash of vanilla extract and lemon juice to the strawberry puree.
What do You Need To Make Korean Strawberry Milk
- Milk: You can use dairy or non-dairy milk such as almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk to make this strawberry drink.
- Strawberries: If you plan to make this recipe when strawberries are in season, you will have an easy job. But if your strawberries are not very sweet and ripe, do not worry, adding a little sugar will solve the problem.
- Sugar: One or two tablespoons of sugar helps to sweeten the strawberry puree. The taste of homemade strawberry milk should be mild, so there’s no need to add a lot of sugar!
- Vanilla extract: Strawberry and vanilla flavors complement each other and help you to have heavenly flavored strawberry milk.
How to Make Korean Strawberry Milk?
- Place washed and hulled strawberries in a food processor or blender, and process until finely chopped.
- Keep 1/4 cup of strawberries and put the rest in a saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar and vanilla extract. You can also add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, which is completely optional.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the strawberry puree from the heat and cool to room temperature. Refrigerate the strawberry puree for 1 to 2 hours.
- Divide chilled strawberry puree evenly among 2 tall glasses. Add some freshly diced strawberries. Add milk slowly if you want to create a beautiful layered effect. You can froth milk before adding it to strawberry puree.
My Favorite Toppings for Korean Strawberry Milk
- Ice cream: Strawberry milk with fresh strawberries and cold milk is a great drink for summer, now how can we make this drink more exciting? That’s right, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- Whipped cream: If you are not worried about the calories of your drink, you can add a little whipped cream.
- Chocolate syrup: I myself like strawberry milk to retain its white and red color combination, but if you like chocolate a lot, you can add chocolate syrup as a topping.
Is Korean Strawberry Milk Healthy?
The health of this drink depends on the amount and type of ingredients you used to make it. If you want healthy strawberry milk, do not add too much sugar to the strawberry puree. Also, use low-fat or non-dairy milk instead of high-fat milk. Remove ice cream and whipped cream from the topping list. Now you have a glass of healthy and refreshing strawberry milk.
Pro Tips to Make This Recipe
- After making strawberry puree, be sure to put it in the refrigerator for a few hours to cool.
- Korean strawberry milk is made up of separate layers of strawberry and milk. Stir well when you want to drink it so that the milk and strawberry sauce are mixed together.
- If you want to prepare strawberry milk for guests in advance, just prepare strawberry puree and put it in the refrigerator. Add milk as well as freshly chopped strawberries just before serving.
