  • Water: You typically need water to cook pumpkins in stovetop methods.

How to Make Pumpkin Puree Without Oven

  • Since pumpkins that are less watery are more suitable for baking sweets and cakes, it is usually recommended to cook them in the oven, but do not worry, there is always a way.
  • To cook pumpkin on the stovetop, first wash it well.
  • Cut it into slices and remove the seeds.
  • Place pumpkin slices into a large pot.
  • You do not need to add too much water to cook pumpkin slices. Start with 1 cup of water. If the water has evaporated and the pumpkins are still firm, add another half cup of water.
  • Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer. Cook the pumpkin until it becomes soft and fork-tender (usually around 15-20 minutes).
  • If excess water remains in the pot after cooking, drain the liquid. Let them cool slightly and then scrape the flesh from the skin of the pumpkin.
  • Place the cooked pumpkin flesh into the blender. Blend until smooth. Allow the puree to cool.
  • Allow the pumpkin puree to cool completely.
  • Transfer the pumpkin puree to an airtight container or freezer-safe bag.
